Supermodel-turned-author Tyra Banks and her debut novel Modelland
Supermodel, TV personality, producer and presenter Tyra Banks can now add bestselling author to her impressive list of credits!
The 37-year-old America's Next Top Model creator and host published her debut fantasy novel Modelland earlier this year, and now the book tops the Barnes & Noble chart this week and has moved into 2nd place on the New York Times bestseller list.
The novel, which took five years to create and write, honours Tyra's "love of both books and fantasy" and draws on her experiences as a supermodel.
"Modelland is a place that I have created that sits on the top of a mountain. And Modelland creates the most famous people in the world — actually the only famous people in the world, which are supermodels," said Tara.
"Many of the characters will be inspired by some of the models I've known, both nice and 'ice'."
Tyra says Modelland – the first in a potential trilogy – could be heading to the big screen after the supermodel was approached by a successful film producer to discuss a film-adaptation of her book.
"I would love to open up the Modelland casting to the world," she said. "I'm looking for an everygirl to possibly play one of the characters in the story."
